PolyTouch Medical Ltd. (“PolyTouch” or the “Company”) has developed PatchAssist, an FDA-cleared, stand-alone surgical system intended to be used to facilitate the delivery of soft tissue prosthetics during the laparoscopic repair of soft tissue defects. Its first application is in hernia repair where the PatchAssist enables the most accurate and rapid delivery of any surgical mesh during LVHR procedures.
PatchAssist provides a significant improvement in the accuracy and speed of mesh placement, potentially reducing the current LVHR operation time by 25-50%. The PatchAssist device and its proprietary mesh placement and deployment methods are protected by a strong patent portfolio.
PolyTouch Medical had raised over 1.3 Million USD from both VCs and ‘The Scientist’.
At 2011 PolyTouch was bought by ‘Covidien’ for an estimated (undisclosed) 30-40 Million USD.
After selling PolyTouch the team had opened a new company called ‘Via Surgical’.
Via Surgical Ltd. has developed FasTouchTM, 5mm the most advanced suture-like surgical system intended to be used to fixate soft tissue prosthetics during the laparoscopic and open repair of various soft tissue defects.
Via Surgical had already been funded for over 8M$
